2023 NCC Spring Conference

The NCC hosted the Spring Spiritual Conference from April 7th to 9th. During the conference, attendees engaged with the theme of "Revelation of Hope." Throughout the event, various speakers and activities were offered, providing opportunities both for spiritual growth and the development of relationships with our fellow brethren!

On Friday evening, a study session was held on "The Revelation of Jesus Christ" and it was led by Br Julian Utupanu. The session was accompanied by musical praise from Renovassom and the Carmichael Men's Choir. The choir performed songs in both English and Portuguese, adding to the spiritual atmosphere of the event.

Our Sabbath morning began with Sabbath School, where the congregation divided into small groups to deeply analyze the lesson of the day: “Delay No Longer”. Apart from the six English classes, there were also classes available in Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian. Additionally, there was a Zoom class for those who joined the conference virtually.

The Divine Service began with a short session of singing. At the start of the service, multilingual hymns were sung, which had been practiced by nearby churches in the months leading up to the conference. The NCC Music Committee led the congregation in singing “Blessed Assurance” in the four official languages of the NCC. Br Peter Lausevic spoke on the theme of the conference, “The True and Faithful Witness,” stressing the importance of following Christ's example. After an altar call at the end of the service, the NCC Choir performed the final song of the morning, “I Am Not My Own,” reminding us that we belong to Christ and need Him in our lives, as mentioned in the sermon.

After enjoying a delightful lunch with our brothers and sisters from both near and far, it was time for the Praise Program, which was organized by the Youth and Music departments. The program included many amazing performances such as a song prepared by all the children in the NCC, various musical and vocal performances by groups and soloists, a special edition of NCC Weekly, and the Youth of the conference singing “Amazing Grace, my Chains are Gone.”At the end of the service, the congregation sang the second multilingual hymn, “Face to Face." The hymn served as a reminder for everyone present of the day when they will have the opportunity to meet their Saviour once again. This moment was a powerful and emotional one, as the lyrics of the hymn conveyed the hope and anticipation that many feel for this future encounter. As a group, we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon together and expressed our gratitude by singing praises to the Lord, which made the experience even more significant. Overall, it was a wonderful and uplifting service for everyone who attended.

Following a delicious and satisfying dinner, Br Darvin Lopez thoughtfully concluded the Sabbath by summarizing the valuable and impactful key takeaways from the day, as well as our overall learning and growth. As the evening progressed, the NCC youth department arranged a fun and engaging bonfire event, which successfully brought together individuals of all ages for exciting games and joyful fellowship.

The third day of the conference commenced with the conclusion of the Revelation of Hope topics. Br David Zic led us in a message that focused on the "The Lamb and The Lion of Revelation.” The atmosphere was filled with a sense of yearning for a closer relationship with God and the need for communion with Him among those who attended. This was evident in the last altar call of the conference, inviting forward all those who wished to strengthen their connection with the Lord. Almost every member of the congregation went to the front of the auditorium to participate in this special prayer, making it a powerful moment. Following the hymn, "Take Me As I Am," Br David led a prayer for all those present, especially praying that we may look towards the Lord and put our faith and trust in Him. As the hymn suggests, may He take us as we are and create within us something new and pure!

As the final preparations were being made for a wonderful lunch, everyone was able to bask in the beautiful weather, serenaded by the delightful melodies of Br Julian’s accordion! As always, lunch was delicious, and it was followed by some special time dedicated solely to the youth and children! Both groups had their own unique programs where they could not only have fun, but also learn valuable team-building skills and strengthen their relationships with one another.

The NCC Spring Conference was a truly enriching experience for all who attended. With the theme of "Revelation of Hope," attendees were able to engage in a variety of activities and sessions that provided both spiritual growth and relationship-building opportunities. From the study session and musical praise on Friday evening to the Sabbath School and Divine Service on Saturday, the conference was filled with powerful moments of worship and learning. The Praise Program and bonfire event on Saturday evening provided a chance for joyful fellowship, while the Sunday morning message and final altar call invited attendees to strengthen their connection with God. Overall, the conference was a wonderful reminder of the hope and love that we have in Christ, and a beautiful time of fellowship with our fellow brethren.
